Frequently asked questions

Where else can you use the Washing Up Liquid?

Our Washing Up Liquid is super versatile and can be used to clean various areas around your house and kitchen. Diluted in water, it’s great for cleaning windows, glass, ovens, floors, and hobs. It can also be used as a first step to clean your kitchen surfaces and as a spot treatment to remove grease stains from fabrics, including clothes, sofas and curtains (always patch test first).

Is our Washing Up Liquid OK to use with sensitive skin?

Due to the moisturising agents, our Washing Up Liquid is gentle on your skin, and a lot of customers with sensitive skin report that it has helped them with their dry and cracked hands. However, hard water and surfactants (cleaning agents) can be very drying on the skin, so we still recommend using washing up gloves. We suggest using our Hand Wash or Anti-Bacterial Hand Wash after washing dishes to take care of your hands.

Why is our Washing Up Liquid yellow?

The yellow colour in our Washing Up Liquid comes naturally from the active ingredients used (if you want to get technical, it’s from the surfactants, the cleaning agents). Unlike other Washing Up Liquids, we do not use synthetic dyes – they are unnecessary and purely for aesthetics. The manufacturing process for dyes often requires significant energy and water resources, contributing to environmental degradation and increased carbon footprint.

Is it safe to leave the suds or foam on my pots and dishes?

We recommend washing and rinsing your dishes thoroughly after they’re cleaned to ensure no residue is left behind. Foam on your dishes indicates the formula is still present, which isn’t particularly unsafe but not ideal.

Why does Washing Up Liquid foam?

Surprisingly suds or foam are added by soap manufacturers to make products look effective, but they don’t actually contribute to the cleaning function.

Does my Washing Up Liquid work even if it doesn’t foam up?

Yes, natural cleaners work effectively even without producing suds. Suds are just for appearance to show that the cleaning agents are present. If you’re into science, read on
because we’re about to get technical. Not visible to the eye, cleaning agents within washing up liquid contain surfactants with a hydrophilic end and a hydrophobic end. The hydrophobic end attaches to dirt and grease, while the hydrophilic end pulls the dirt away, reducing the surface tension of water and allowing it to penetrate and wash away dirt.

Can it be used on porous surfaces?

Yes, our Washing Up Liquid is pH neutral and can be used on porous surfaces like marble. It’s important to test it in an inconspicuous area first.

Can you use Washing Up Liquid as a stain remover for oil-based stains on clothes?

Yes! One of the tricks of the trade is using Washing Up Liquid on oil-based stains, the
surfactants (cleaning agents) in the formula lift grease and oil away from dishes (or in this case, your clothes) but are gentle on fabric fibres so are a great solution to removing oil and grease stains. Always test with a patch first before applying it to your whole garment.
