Cutting through the greenwash: why Delphis Eco stands apart

At Delphis Eco, we’ve always believed that doing the right thing shouldn't require smoke and mirrors. That’s why we were pleased, yes, actually pleased, to see Which? launch a deep dive into the state of green claims on over 20,000 products. Their findings? Alarming, but sadly, not surprising.
According to Which?, six in ten products failed to meet multiple principles of the Competition and Markets Authority’s (CMA) Green Claims Code. Even more shocking - 84% failed at least one of the CMA’s key checks.
This kind of statistic is exactly why greenwashing is such a huge problem and why independent, trusted watchdogs are essential. When consumers are misled by glossy marketing and vague environmental promises, everyone loses, especially the planet.
A welcome spotlight on the industry
“Where is the jeopardy for the brands and advertising agencies, and how can the Green Claims Code be so badly abused?” asked our CEO, Mark Jankovich. “Where is the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA)? Well done Which? for doing the ASA’s job.”
As a company that’s built its name on environmental integrity and transparency, Delphis Eco is proud to say we passed this intense scrutiny with flying colours. Across our entire 168-product portfolio, the only issue Which? found was a single word: we used “highly biodegradable” when the technical standard term is “readily biodegradable.
“We’ll take that 0.6% error rate when 84% of the industry can’t even pass the basics.”
Science, not spin
Cleaning products were one of the worst offending categories in the Which? investigation, rife with misleading environmental claims. This is where our commitment to truth in labelling really sets us apart. Every claim we make is backed by science, evidence, and transparency, not marketing buzzwords.
“What does ‘ocean-bound plastic’ really mean?” Mark challenges. “And why do companies keep promoting dissolvable laundry or refill sachets as 100% biodegradable when they know they leave microplastics behind? Where again is the ASA?”
Built to disrupt
For nearly 20 years, Delphis Eco has been on a mission to disrupt the cleaning industry for the better. Our packaging is made from 100% recycled plastic, our labels are clear and informative, and our products are designed with performance, sustainability, and health in mind.
We don’t just want to sell products - we want to build trust. That means no vague claims, no trendy terms, and no hiding behind sustainability theatre. Just facts, delivered with integrity.
Time for change
Greenwashing is more than just misleading - it’s damaging. It undermines trust, misdirects well-intentioned consumers, and slows real environmental progress.
We echo Which?’s call for stricter oversight and support for companies who do sustainability right. It’s time the industry raised the bar. Until then, we’ll keep holding ourselves to the highest standards because the planet deserves nothing less.
