Delphis Eco launch the ‘Plastics Pledge’ in an effort to generate conversation surrounding single-use plastics.
Last week brought Recycle Week, with Delphis Eco determined to educate and inform people about the environmental impact of single-use plastics. Single-use plastics currently encompass far too many everyday household products, such as milk bottles, shampoo containers, straws and plastic carrier bags, to name a few. These items have a tiny use period. On average a plastic bag is used for just twelve minutes before being discarded.
Currently no FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) firms use 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) packaging or have even committed to it.
This means that only 5-7% of nearly 300 million tonnes of plastic waste per year is being recycled. This is not good enough.
We launched the Plastics Pledge as a webpage, where anyone can pledge that they agree that large companies need to be held accountable for their sustainability and offer better reuse of plastics within their manufacturing.
